Find My Apples utilizes the iCloud service to pinpoint the location of your family's Apple devices, displaying them on a map and offering the option to emit a sound for easier identification.

Setup

Find My iDevices

If you wish to keep track of your family, you must initiate family sharing for iCloud beforehand. Instructions: http://www.apple.com/icloud/family-sharing

How it functions:

Find My Apple logs into your iCloud account using your Apple ID and password, presenting itself as an Opera Browser. It establishes direct communication with the iCloud server to acquire real-time location details of all your registered Apple devices and exhibits them as markers on a Google Map.

Log In

Please log in with your Apple ID and Password when prompted. Your Apple ID and password are transmitted directly to the iCloud server, and the password is stored on the device only if you select the relevant checkbox.

Marker Colors:

The map markers are color-coded to indicate the recency of the reported device locations. Blue: less than one minute Green: less than 5 minutes Red: more than 5 minutes Grey: old location

Info Windows:

By clicking on a marker, an Info Window will emerge exhibiting: Device Name Battery Life Timeliness of the location

Controls:

At the screen's top, you can find up to three controls: A dropdown that aids in selecting between displaying a single device or all devices as markers on the map A Location Button that centers the marker(s) on the map to bring all into view A Play Sound Button that becomes visible when a single device is chosen. Clicking this button will trigger an audible alert on the device.
